Light & Design

About me

Bild von mir

Who am I?

My name is Leonie Spachtholz, nice to see you here! I graduated in the midst of the Pandemic year 2020 from the Köln International School of Design. The Bachelor of Integrated Design describes me quite well: I am a multidisciplinary designer and don't limit myself to one area.

What fascinates me most is light, whith which I like to play in my projects. And when I'm not designing? Then I'm still playing with light as a fire-artist.

I invite you to have a look at my work and if you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Skills

I am specialized in light and installation design. To achieve my goals, I use a range of different skills in the areas of motion and interaction design. Most of my projects are interdisciplinary and need a mix of animation, video manipulation, projection mapping, programming and physical prototyping or installation construction.

In addition I use my general design skills to present my work like photography, film, video cutting, print and webdesign.

This projects explores the interface between music, visuals, but also two and three-dimentional space. The aim was to create a visualisation for each track of the binaural album „Seven Spaces“ from Sounddesigner Patrick Leuchter, as part of a cooperation project at KISD.

The result was an audio-visual installation with mapped ropes for the song "Done and Gone".

How can a static image be animated with the projection of motion? How is the perception of a photography influenced, when adding an additional medium? How far can we go with the manipulation of the image, and where are the limits?

During this self-initiated project, together with Lisa Peter and Corinna Duschl, we each experimented with the effects of mixing the static image and the dynamic video-projection.

The result was an installation demonstrating the three performances.
